Listening to Eddie Van Halen play guitar is an almost spiritual experience. The David Lee Roth era is obviously
the best one, Sammy Hagar doesn't have as good of a style but he got the job done and backs up Eddie's shredding
with decency.
Van Halen (Warner, 1978) gives the world
Runnin' With the Devil and other classics.
Van Halen II (Warner, 1979),
Women and Children First (Warner, 1980) and
Fair Warning (Warner, 1981) continue their status as the world's greatest metal band, until
Diver Down (Warner, 1982) which has a few
keyboard-based tracks and
an almost entire album of covers. This is followed by their greatest
record
1984 (Warner, 1984) and contains the timeless hits
Panama,
Hot for Teacher and
Jump.
