White Stripes was started by Jack and Meg White who are either married or brother and sister. Anyways their first album, White Stripes (1999) they introduce an aggressive take on blues rock, drowning the guitar in fuzz with a booming rhythm section. There's also an occasional piano and acoustic guitar. Jack White has an intentionally lo-fi effect on his vocals which gives the record a lot of character. On their next album, White Blood Cells (2001), Jack White expands upon his signature guitar tone while straying away from the blues. The vocals are a lot clearer and they've added organs to the mix.
