blink-182 started off doing all age punk shows in California, immediately gaining lots of fans. Tom DeLonge
and his guitar tone have done more for the pop punk genre than any other guitarist. The riffs
on every record, self-titled included, are distinctly his own. It's recommended to have a half-way decent audio
setup to listen to this particular band, to be able to clearly make out the bass tone and notes performed by
Mark Hoppus, who is a key element to almost every track. Cheshire Cat (1995) is a must-listen for any pop
punk fan solely due to the precise and raw guitar tracks. Dude Ranch (1997) is a major improvement on
their debut, with better audio quality and songwriting. "Dammit", "Boring", "Voyeur", and "I'm Sorry" are
the best tracks. Enema of the State (1999) is the best place to start with this band, and their first to have
Travis Barker on drums, who is the most memorable member. The album's compression is often mind-boggling
but it's a classic. Some highlights are "Dysentery Gary", "Mutt", "Adam's Song", and "Dumpweed".
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001) is an overall improvement on Enema, with fewer highlights.
Their self-titled Blink-182 (2003) was an attempt to go in a different direction from the skate punk style
they've always done, with great success. This has their most well-arranged songs of all time. There's a lot
more keyboards, unique guitar tones, and even a Robert Smith feature. Some highlights are "I'm Lost Without You", "Down", "I Miss You",
"Asthenia", "Stockholm Syndrome", and "Violence".
