Possibly the most unique psychedelic artist of the 2000s, Ariel Pink was ahead of the curve that genres
like vaporwave tried to do, with hazy and genuinely good nostalgia driven 80s music. House Arrest (2002)
combined lo-fi indie pop and 70's / 80's pop rock songwriting
style for a wild ride. Every track is perfect. It's often hard to believe they're original songs and not
covers from a previous era. The Doldrums (2004) was a refinement of his style. Before Today (2010) was a collection of re-recorded
songs from previous albums, this time with tighter more consumer-friendly performances. Mature Themes (2012) was a beginning of his more comedic style,
with the monolithic hit "Baby". Pom Pom (2014) and Dedicated to Bobby Jameson (2017) were his last albums before being cancelled for an instagram post by
fellow musician and bandmate John Maus, featuring him and Ariel in Washington D.C. a few days before January 6th 2021, and
immediately getting dropped by his label.
